The differences between a single and double solenoid valve

Single-solenoid valves and double-solenoid valves are two types of solenoid valves. Double-solenoid types have two solenoid coils, while single-solenoid types only have one.

With the single solenoid valve, the slide valve has a spring resetting feature. When the power is disconnect from the solenoid valve, the solenoid valve automatically resets. A double solenoid valve requires the coil on the other side to be electrified before it can function.

The single solenoid is switched on under constant power and air inlet, while the double solenoid is switched on at instant power.

The solenoid valve only has two positions – one under the action of the spring when there are no signals, and the other under the action of electromagnetism when there are signals. The three-position solenoid valve is include in the double solenoid valve. In the absence of signals, the double solenoid valve remains in the middle, the piston moves to the piston with signals, and pipeline breakover occurs. When the power is disconnect, the piston returns to the middle position.

A single solenoid valve is similar to a single-acting pneumatic cylinder, which has a spring resetting. The power-on side pulls (coil excitation) and the power-off side pushes (spring resetting). A double solenoid valve is similar to a double-acting pneumatic cylinder, which has no spring resetting. They work as two coils with a single excitation and two working modes: one pushing and one pulling.

Since the cigarette lighter operates only for a short period each time and it withdraws most of the time, a single-coil short-term electric input is use and it withdraws under power loss. DCS will only emit one impulse that is sufficiently long and input by the fire gun. Conversely, the oil gun requires long-term input or, regardless of which direction it withdraws, the oil gun is unable to ensure the solenoid valve is connected with power for a long time. As such, DCS only emits the withdrawal signals with a short impulse to ensure that the oil gun solenoid valve will operate in any require state when the solenoid valve is disconnect from power.

5/2 way solenoid valves: single vs double solenoid

Solenoid valves with two positions or three ports usually have a single electric control. As opposed to this, the two-position and five-port solenoid valve have not only a single-solenoid structure but also a double-solenoid structure. What are the differences between single solenoid valves and double solenoid valves?

The two-position and five-port solenoid valve is usually use in conjunction with the double-acting pneumatic cylinder. It depends on the processing requirements whether to use a single solenoid valve or a double one.

For the double-action air cylinder, the single solenoid valves have two positions and three ports. In the absence of air supply, it is FL, and no FC or FO exists. In the absence of power supply, it is FC and FO.

On the double-action air cylinder, there is a two-position and five-port double solenoid valve. If there is no air supply, there is no FC or FO; If there is no power supply, there is no FC or FO.

A broken-down pneumatic valve loses the air supply in its broken-down position. An air cylinder with double-action is usually equipped with a solenoid valve with two positions and five ports.
